A Sound of Thunder A Sound of Thunder - Of Wood And Steel

There once was a tree
in time gone before us
content to live his days
Until one, the day
man entered the forest
and dragged the tree away

They shaved him down into a pole
And armed the the wood with steel
They put him in the hands of someone
Pale and thin with fear
The tree was fashioned into
Many weapons for the brave
They carried him as banners
Pikes and arrows, bows and staves

They fought together in the war
They knew that someday, they'd be free
They knew not what they all fought for
But they knew that they needed the trees

Their weapons couldn't take the
Beating that their rivals gave
Their shields were splintered down
Despite the thousand arrows made
Their bodies lay against the fields
Their blood, dyed it red
The bitter howl of death was all
That mourned the fallen death

They fought together in the war
They knew that now they could be free
They understood what they died for
The men, the steel, and the trees

The battle won, they lay their dead to rest
In the ground
They fashioned graves for them from all the
Weapons that they found
With nature at the side
None of their men died in vain
Beneath the ground with them
The tree could feel his roots again

They fought together in the war
They knew that now they could be free
They understood what they died for
The men, the steel, and the trees
